...the Next Generation of Automation Professionals!

"The importance of pairing our students with an engaged and accomplished group of engineering and automation professionals cannot be underestimated. Our students will get the opportunity to work with professionals whose work reflects the typical challenges and creative rigor that is at the heart of our program. I applaud the efforts of the Automation Federation and ISA to tap the resources of our FIRST® students as a means of raising awareness of STEM and helping us to remain competitive in the fields of automation and technology."

-Dean Kamen, FIRST® founder and CEO of DEKA Research & Development

FIRST®, AF, and ISA invite you and your section members to volunteer.

The Automation Federation (AF) and the International Society of Automation (ISA) have formed a Strategic Alliance with FIRST® (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology).

The purpose of this Alliance is to build the next generation of automation professionals by promoting the importance of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) in K-12 education. Through this Alliance, FIRST, AF, and ISA will mobilize their joint resources to collaborate and promote K-12 STEM education through after-school participation in the family of four FIRST robotics programs.

As part of this Alliance, ISA section members around the world are invited to contribute at the grass-roots level. How? By volunteering for a FIRST team, program, or event.

FIRST programs provide the vehicle for learning and the young minds eager to learn. It’s up to professionals like you to provide the knowledge and experience. Benefiting more than automation workforce development, your participation will help young minds understand the impact automation
professionals make on the world and how they can follow in your footsteps.

By volunteering, you will be

  • Making a difference in the lives of young people
  • Networking with like-minded professionals
  • Helping celebrate science and technology
  • Building the next generation of automation professionals

How can you volunteer?

  • Become a team Mentor or Coach
  • Organize a team, event, or FIRST program
  • Help out at a FIRST competition
